It's Eclectic!Sometimes that little hot pink house can get really crowded, but that's okay with Theresa Kloko, owner of It's Eclectic on First Avenue North , Jacksonville Beach . After all, she grew up in a family of six girls! “We all loved jewelry and we had to be really imaginative about accessorizing,” she says, noting that the unique accessories from New York and Los Angeles carried in her shop were unheard of in her hometown of Titusville , Florida . Today, Kloko's sisters and mother love to visit her at It's Eclectic. “My mother never used to wear jewelry,” she grins. “Now, she's a real fashion maven with a nice flashy collection of my best designer jewelry like Gerard Yosca of New York, Lucky Lulu and, of course, Tarina Tarantino!” Tarina Tarantino is the shop's “signature jewelry,” as women ages 8 to 80 come in seeking the perfect Tarina Tarantino necklace, bracelet, bag or earrings that they know was designed just for them. “Oh, this is just perfect for my sister, Charlotte!” declared Rebekah Streeter on October 24 th as she held up a Tarina Tarantino “Hello Kitty” necklace – a present for her sister's 20 th birthday. Rebekah, who said she owns several pairs of the designer's famous flower earrings, as well as a necklace and matching bracelet, just happens to be one of the more than 4,000 shoppers that have purchased Tina Tarantino accessories at It's Eclectic during the past year. “Since we started keeping track of Tarina Tarantino sales, we've been amazed,” said Theresa, announcing that the 5,000 th Tarina Tarantino customer will be celebrated with a great prize package that includes a gorgeous necklace made by the designer especially for It's Eclectic. And that's not all! A canvas bag, earrings and bracelet by the designer will also be part of the prize. Piling boxes and boxes of customer index cards on the counter, Theresa and her assistant, Norma Pepper, model Tarina necklaces as they display the fabulous prize package. “We expect her [the 5,000 th customer] to walk in the door sometime in the spring of 2008,” said Theresa, “but who knows, it might end up being a special Christmas surprise for some lucky lady!” As it is, there are already several lucky ladies whose Christmas wishes are guaranteed to come true at It's Eclectic. On a decorative table next to the entrance to the hot-pink showroom that sparkles with delicious, delightful gewgaws, there is a “Wish Box” full of index cards carefully listing specific items that will thrill the recipient on Christmas morning or any morning, for that matter. With her fabulous inventory of the most popular high-end designer jewelry garnered from several annual trips to New York and Los Angeles, Theresa's little shop is a regular destination for fashionable teens (and their mothers). And, after six years of successful business at the Beach, It's Eclectic has gained a reputation not only for keeping ahead of the very latest in designer fashion but for generously giving back to the community. “I try to make my donations mean something,” said Theresa. When asked to donate something for a silent auction or fundraiser for a good cause, like MS, Boys & Girls Clubs, Battered Women's Shelter, etc., Theresa usually comes through with a popular $100 to $300 designer necklace. Once in a while, as with the Special Olympics, she even contacts the organization to offer a donation. “I'm blessed to have a 15-year old son who is perfectly okay,” she said. “It's important to give back.” Being raised in a large, loving family and then being married to the same supportive husband for the past 26 years has empowered Theresa to pass on much more than fine merchandise to her devoted customers. “Those will be on sale next Saturday,” she informs a customer about to purchase a pricey pair of designer earrings, “but if you can't make it in then, I'll give you the sale price now.” Catering to whimsy, fashion, and fun, with a generous dash of compassion added to the inventory, It's Eclectic is a sparkling reflection of it's attractive owner as well as the “hot pink hot spot” for the most fabulous, funky designer jewelry and accessories at the Beaches.
